Very welcoming on early arrival. Clean and comfortable. Bedroooms beautifully equipped. Very good breakfast. Our son and daughters - early 40's - also found it ideal. Good value for money, and we would recommend it to friends.
m.s.reid from kent (Mature couple) on 13/07/2010

We had a fantastic break and could not fault the accommodation, it was everything you could ask for, clean, comfortable and friendly would not hesitate to stay here again.
Mr & Mrs John King from Bristol () on 13/07/2010

Really lovely B&B all round.
Lisa Togher from Reading (Young couple) on 13/07/2010

My boyfriend and myself booked Rathlin country house for a weekend away over valentines back in February. It is a small b&b with a lovely welcoming and homely feeling, you have your own key to get in and out during the day and night so you can really do your own thing. The rooms are just lovely with comfy beds and little extras that really make you feel at home. We chose the room with the jacuzzi bath and found it to be absolutely lovely, perfect to relax in after a busy day in the welsh countryside! for the areas we wished to visit on our stay, conwy, llandudno, and other areas, the b&b was in a very desirable situation just a short journey to the surrounding towns and attractions. the breakfast each morning was the best we have ever had, very high standard for such a small place, and it is served with a smile every single time, the owners are very friendly and very accommodating to your needs, with information on local attractions and restaurants provided. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be revisiting soon.
Charlotte and James from Staffordshire (Young couple) on 07/07/2010

As a previous guest at Rathin, this time our welcome and hospitality of the owners was 5* and would have no hesitation in coming again and to highly recommend this bed and breakfast residence for the mature type of guests, if you look for comfort and a very high standard of service and room at at very reasonable price.
Mr John Richards from Prescot,Merseyside. (Mature couple) on 29/06/2010

Stayed one night and found Rathlin to be one of the best places I have stayed for a long time beutifull rooms and a very warm welcome, I will be back
Mr Harriington from Anonymous (Solo business traveller) on 10/06/2010

Beautiful house, delightful surroundings, very friendly and helpful hosts and wonderful breakfast.
Anonymous from Anonymous (Mature couple) on 20/05/2010

Once again, it's difficult to find enough superlatives to describe the quality of Rathlin Country House; wonderful breakfasts, beautiful room, very well-equipped, perfect situation, and last but not least, the extraordinary kindness of the hosts. We love staying there and cannot wait to be able to return again.
Pamela Harris from France (Family with young children) on 18/05/2010

I visited Rathlin Country House with my daughter and two young grandchildren (3yrs and 7yrs) We loved the whole experience, the room was fantastic, the breakfast excellent as was the service. We also found the location very good to use as a base. We will definately be going again.
Anonymous from Stockport Cheshire (Family with young children) on 10/05/2010

We found our stay at Rathlin country house very relaxing and felt very welcome and looked after during our stay. The room was lovely, we felt we had plenty of privacy and given lots of information about the local area and just very well looked after in general. Couldn't have asked for a more pleasant place to stay.
Tanya from Knutsford (Young couple) on 27/04/2010

Delightful top quality guest house set in an ideal location which provided excellent facilities and food during our stay guaranteeing a return visit when next in Colwyn Bay
David E Jones from Anonymous (Mature couple) on 25/04/2010

I would have no heitation in reccommending Rathlin County House to my family, friends and work colleagues. Marian and Anthony could not be more welcoming and friendly. The room we stayed in was spotlessly clean, as was the en-suite bathroom. The in-room fridge came in very handy. The breakfast choices, would I think cater for every taste. The small touches make this bed and breakfst hotel stand out from others we have stayed in. I do not want to sing the praises of this lovely house and couple too much as I would like to return and am very fearful that after reading this review, it may be diffecult in the future for me to be able to book a room.
Deborah Harrison from Anonymous (Family with young children) on 16/04/2010

I stayed in a large, luxurious room, which was extremely good value for the money. The ground floor of the house had wainscotting, which gave a very nice character to the house. Good breakfast. Very friendly proprietors. Delightful rustic setting (with squirrels in the garden). I would certainly stay here again.
John Hayes from Cork, IRL. (Solo leisure traveller) on 14/04/2010

Outstanding! What a wonderful place to stay with such lovely hosts Marion and Anthony. Their friendliness and attentiveness to detail made my stay very pleasant indeed. I look forward to returning.
Julie Johnson from Rossendale (Solo leisure traveller) on 22/03/2010

A beautiful home, warm welcome and smart room, complete with luxurious steam shower, set us up for a special weekend. It was hard to be selective at breakfast with Marian’s homemade bread (and marmalade!) among other temptations. Excellent hosts and a lovely location... thanks for having us!
Nell Brooker from Derbyshire (Young couple) on 24/02/2010

4th time of visiting, and each time seems to get better. Wonderful hosts who cannot do enough for you. Will definitely be back later in the year.
Ian from Barnsley (Mature couple) on 24/02/2010

Often, one reads on a review site, that an establishment is "in a great location", "wonderful staff","beautiful house", etc etc & then, full of anticipation, you arrive & think you must have got the wrong address. This does NOT apply to 'Rathlin'. Everything is just right. The house, the owners (who actually treat you as guests!),the rooms & so on, all have that little bit extra which can really make the stay. With-out question, we award them 10 out of 10.
P.J & M Douglass from Dunchurch. (Mature couple) on 10/02/2010

The most important thing is that we were made very welcome on our arrival, and throughout our stay received every attention. The accommodation was of a very high standard and there was nothing we could criticise. We think we were very fortunate to have chosen Rathlin House for our stay in Colwyn Bay.
David Clarkson from Huddersfield (Mature couple) on 05/02/2010

Highly recommended B&B, very clean and welcoming after a long journey! Steam bath in room 3 is a lovely extra, this is well above the other B&B's in Colwyn Bay. Based on how lovely the breakfast was (they are clearly hoteliers as service better than most hotels I use for business travel), I just wish they ran a restaurant too!
Rachel Clough from Lincolnshire (Solo business traveller) on 25/01/2010

Very comfortable night's accommodation. Linen, towels and general cleanliness of room all excellent. Friendly service. Excellent breakfast. Pen y Bryn recommendation for dinner well received - bit of a walk, but well worth it.
Anonymous from Cardiff (Solo business traveller) on 20/01/2010

very nice Guest house with cosy room, where it is comfortable to stay. We will come back.
Anonymous from Anonymous (Family with young children) on 18/01/2010

Rathlin House is without doubt one of the best B & Bs that we have come across in many, many years. The rooms, furnishings, facilities and food are all first class and the welcome that we received from Marion and Anthony contributed to a very pleasant stay. We have now been there twice, will undoubtedly use it again and will have no hesitation in recommending it to our friends should the occasion arise.
Anonymous from Rugby (Mature couple) on 07/01/2010

Me and my partner recently stayed at Rathlin Country House for 3 nights (after staying previously for just one night) The rooms are lovely and very comfortable, breakfast is gorgeous and Marian and Anthony were perfect hosts they even catered for my partner who is vegetarian. We had a lovely stay and can't wait to go back there in January 2010 for our Anniversary.
Karen O'Toole from Liverpool (Mature couple) on 11/12/2009

A lovely room with immaculate en suite, a friendly welcome and a delicious breakfast.
Claire Field from London (Mature couple) on 01/12/2009

3rd time staying here, and each time it gets better. Lovely hosts, lovely accomodation, and a really filling breakfast to set you up for the day. Heartily recommended, and we will be there again next year.
Ian from Barnsley (Mature couple) on 30/11/2009

The place is great. All the fixtures and fittings of a very high standard. Breakfast was great. You get a lot to eat. Would like to visit in the summer as we did not get the weather at all.

Schamel from Germany (Family with young children) on 22/11/2009

I really enjoyed my stay, the rooms are very comfortable and the bathroom supplies are first class. Great attention is paid to the small details which makes all the difference. Superb breakfast that really set me up for the day! Thanks you and I will visit again when I am next in the area.
Gerry Donnelly from Cardiff (Solo business traveller) on 09/11/2009

An oasis of calm at the end of a very busy day. Every need considered in the room, with comfy bed, good tv to relax watching, a selection of dvds to watch if required and a cup of tea/coffee/chocolate ready to prepare to unwind. The bathroom, again, had everything you needed including large fluffy towels and toiletries you may have forgotten to bring with you. After a restful night, the breakfast was probably one of the best I have ever had. Thank you very much, I shall stay again.
Anonymous from Anonymous (Solo business traveller) on 02/11/2009

what a lovely bed and breakfast, every little thing had been thought of from fresh milk in the mini fridge to soft fluffy bathrobes. My room was beautiful, very cosy and warm . Breakfast was great , in all a very relaxing home and a very pleasant stay.

john wem from hull (Mature couple) on 22/10/2009

We could not think what could have been better, the room, bathroom were excellent and the breakfast was also first class and the best we had had in a week away at Hotels.
David Davies from Anonymous (Mature couple) on 21/10/2009

Very high standards in all areas.Warm friendly welcome from the owners and an absolute pleasure from start to finish. We will definitely be staying again as there is so much to do within easy reach of this excellent location.
Mr Hubball from Ripley, Derbyshire (Young couple) on 23/09/2009

I would highly recommend the Rathlin Country House. My job involves staying in North Wales every few months. Over the last 2 years i have experienced the majority of Hotels in North Wales and found the Rathlin Country House to be the best by far. This is due to exceptioanl customer service, cleanliness and most importantly the Breakfast! Really appreciated the small touches, such as the DVD player with a selection of films and a fridge with complimentary chilled water. Will definitely stay again.
Paul Jones from Cardiff (Solo business traveller) on 15/09/2009

We felt welcomed from the day we arrived. The accommodation was excellent as was the breakfast and the local knowledge and help was priceless. We enjoyed not only conversation with our hosts but also the passing parade of other guests with touring tips and entertaining stories. We left rested and with some regret that there had not been enough time to see everything North Wales had to offer.
Brian and Margaret Farrell from Australia (Mature couple) on 29/08/2009

We would highly recommend the Rathlin Country House. The house is lovely. All bedrooms/bathrooms are furnished to a high standard, very clean, and everything had been thought of - little things like fresh milk and bottled water in the fridge were appreciated. Breakfast was all that you could ask for both in choice and quality. Hosts very welcoming and helpful.
The Cornthwaite family from Derbyshire () on 28/08/2009

Great Hotel. Great owners. Great service. Great value for money. Very clean and well equiped rooms with WIFI, flatssceen TV and DVD player. Will stay there again and higly reccomend it to anyone.
Trevor from Surrey (Solo business traveller) on 21/08/2009

We had a very enjoyable stay. The quality of the room was excellent. Every effort was made by our hosts to make us feel at home. Breakfast choices were excellent. A very high quality Bed and Breakfast venue.
Chris and Ariel Elliott from London (Mature couple) on 18/08/2009

An excellent family run hotel with a friendly approach and good service. My room was beautifully furnished to a high standard, extremely comfortable and very pleasant to relax in after a long journey. The bathroom was also very well thought out with a high level of thought and attention to detail having gone into it. Overall a great place to stay, with good food and five star accomodation at three star prices. Thoroughly recommended!
Rob Turner from Northampton (Solo business traveller) on 17/08/2009

Very comfortable room with beautifully appointed bathroom - lovely fluffy white towels, toiletries provided. It was nice to have a small fridge in room with fresh milk and bottled water. Breakfast was excellent - very good choice. Proprietors very helpful and friendly. On the expensive side for B & B but this is high quality!
Christine and Nick Wright from Norfolk (Mature couple) on 12/08/2009

A great escape 4 a bit of luxury. lovely surroundings, gorgeous house, friendly staff, delicious fresh food, very clean all through.Everything you could ever wish for when staying away from home.Didnt want to leave and cant wait to go back again! The children loved it too!
deborah edworthy from Anonymous (Family with young children) on 12/08/2009

Excellent. Nice location, plenty of parking, pleasant rooms and great breakfasts. You would struggle to find better accommodation anywhere.
Anonymous from Matlock, Derbyshire (Mature couple) on 07/08/2009

Unfortunately we only had one nights stay at the Rathlin Country House, which proved to be most enjoyable. From arrival which was very welcoming to our room which was beautiful. The dining room was very tasteful and the food lovely being all freshly cooked with many choices. The whole ambience of the building is excellent. I would have no problem in recommending the 'Rathlin' for a pleasurable stay.
Pauline Jones from Appleton Park, Cheshire (Mature couple) on 05/08/2009

I found the Rathlin to be extremely comfortable with great amenities. Our room had a Jacuzzi which is not the norm for a B & B. Bathrobes supplied as well. Instead of the usual portable you find in most B & B accomodation our room had a large flat screen tv and DVD player. DVD's available to borrow from the dining room. We also had a fridge and internet access. I found the owners very welcoming and helpful and they do a fantastic breakfast with locally made sausages. One of the best if not the best B & B's I have stayed in. My niece also felt the same way about the Rathlin Country House. Luxury accomodation indeed.
P Hopwood from Manchester (Family with young children) on 04/08/2009

The welcome was very friendly and courteous. We were promptly shown to our beautiful room. The room facilities were excellent even down to the dressing gowns. The dining room decor and table decoration was lovely. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented lovely which I am sure catered for every taste. A beautiful house and gardens even with the squirrel climbing the bird table and then sliding down from top to bottom. We were only there for one night but would love to return if we were in the area again. A wonderful experince
Pauline Jones from Appleton, Cheshire (Mature couple) on 03/08/2009

WE STAYED FOR ONE NIGHT AND WHAT A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY HOUSE THIS IS, THE ROOM WAS LOVELY AND LITTLE EXTRAS - BATHROBES, DVD, TEA AND COFFEE MAKING FACILITES. THE BREAKFAST WAS REALLY NICE AND PRESENTED WELL. WE WERE MADE VERY WELCOME AND WOULD DEFINATELY RETURN AND RECOMMEND THIS LOVELY ACCOMMODATION TO ANYONE.
Anonymous from CHEADLE HULME (Mature couple) on 21/07/2009

A thoroughly enjoyable, luxurious place to stay, travelling with children is never easy but the owners were extremely accomodating. We stayed for a weekend and didn't want to leave! I would recommend staying here to everyone!
Anonymous from Lancashire (Family with young children) on 14/07/2009

My family had an excellent stay at Rathlin House-the rooms are furnished to a high standard and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit available as well as the usual bacon/eggs, etc. all very tasty and well presented. The owners undercharged us and I managed to break the shower fitting to add insult to injury - the proprietor cheerfully waived my offer of compensation- gracious and generous hosts, I would recommend it to anyone.
Colin Buskiewicz from Cork, Ireland (Family with young children) on 14/07/2009

Great place to stay on your own - I haven't found anything as nice in Colwyn Bay - excellent quality, and so clean! Room was great, enought space to work, with a desk as well and the free WIFI was a bonus. Little touches like the free water, fresh milk and having the fridge made such a difference. Breakfast was fab, although a bit odd with 3 single guests each having their own table - we are so British aren't we? Will definitely book again - very friendly welcome - every b&b should aspire to such standards!
Anonymous from Anonymous (Solo business traveller) on 12/07/2009

Very comfortable, with a friendly welcome and the owners always happy to ensure you have a pleasant stay.
maggie stanton from Anonymous (Mature couple) on 11/07/2009

Rathlin Country House is the best B&B we have ever stayed in. On arrival we were welcomed by our hosts Marian and Anthony with a warmth that you would only expect from family members. The house is beautiful in a lovely setting, our room was fantastic, well appointed with lots of little extras, and immaculately clean. The breakfast was food fit for a king, piping hot, cooked to order and plenty of it. The dinning room is cosy, quiet and elegant, and quite frankly, we did not want to leave. If you want a real treat in the area of Colwyn Bay, stay at the Rathlin, its the best of the best. Thank you so much for making our stay just perfect.
Neil and Terry MacQuarrie from Anonymous (Mature couple) on 10/07/2009

Thank you for some great days at your beautiful hotel. Good, clean and neat spacious rooms. Lovely service and great breakfasts. We are looking forward to revisit North Wales and your hotel. Kind regards Ejvin Lund Pedersen
Ejvin Lund Pedersen from Anonymous (Mature couple) on 08/07/2009

The best b&b we,ve ever been in , fantastic room with all facilities ( even including bath robes ! ) and super breakfast . Would recommend very highly .
Anonymous from Birr , Ireland (Mature couple) on 07/07/2009

My family and I highly enjoyed our visit to the Rathlin Country House, and highly recommend it to our friends. Marian was an excellent hostess who provided great service and was very friendly and helpful. She recommended activities to do in North Wales, as well as places to eat (based in part on positive reviews from previous guests). The house and rooms were very nicely adorned and the family unit was quite spacious. The location in Colwyn Bay is an excellent base station for exploring the beauty of North Wales, with Conwy minutes away and a 30-40 minute drive over to Caernarfon and Llanberis being the long-end of the journey around the area. Also, the breakfast was delicious and was one of the highlights of the stay. The menu was fairly broad, but I recommend doing the full English-style breakfast, as it was a great way to start your adventure each day. North Wales is beautiful and well worth the visit. If you are considering a holiday there, I can recommend from an excellent personal experience that you make the Rathlin Country House your home if you do.
Anonymous from United Kingdom (Family with young children) on 07/07/2009

We thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay at Rathlin Country House which is situated in a quiet part of Colwyn Bay. Marian and Anthony provide an excellent standard of accommmodation for their guests and are very welcoming hosts. Breakfasts are delicious. As we were on our first visit to Wales we had no difficulty filling our days and sadly time did not allow us to make use of the swimming pool facilities despite the beautiful weather. We would certainly recommend this B & B to anyone visiting the area.
S & M McGregor from Dundee (Mature couple) on 07/07/2009

The best B&B we have ever stayed at. It was easy to find from the website's directions and a car parking space for each bedroom. Marian and Anthony were very friendly and soon made us feel at home. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and very clean. The mini fridge was a great boon in the warm weather and the complimentary mineral water was very welcome on a sunny day. There were a wide selection of items for breakfas; cooked foods freshly prepared and piping hot. We had a wonderful 4 day stay and the accommodation made our stay very enjoyable. We hope to visit Rathlin House again soon.
Anonymous from Lincolnshire (Mature couple) on 06/07/2009

Beautiful house, professional but friendly. Good facilities, modern and very clean. Great restaurants nearby and superb breakfast. Would never stay anywhere else unless fully booked. Only drawback from my point of view, I prefer a quilt rather than blankets but that's being picky!
Jeff Dunn from Northumberland (Solo business traveller) on 07/06/2009

Utterly delicious and healthy choices for breakfast. Children much taken by "award-winning sausages", and by jaccuzi in bedroom. Most welcoming hosts.
Maria Lyons from Dorset (Family with young children) on 07/06/2009

This was our second visit to Rathlin Country House and north wales. the stanadard of the room was exceptional, the quality of the breakfast was outstanding - something for everyones taste. A warm and friendly atmostphere making it a home from home feeling. We would certainly recomend Rathlin Country House to anyone wanting to stay in north wales.
Anonymous from Anonymous (Mature couple) on 31/05/2009

Our second visit to Rathlin and we enjoyed this stay every bit as much as the first! We will definitely be back, hopefully sometime soon, to enjoy the friendly welcome, the immaculate accommodation and all the thoughtful little touches that make it a real home from home. Thanks again. Penny and Sarah Lewis
Penny Lewis from Great Dunmow, Essex (Family with young children) on 29/05/2009

I stayed here for a business trip but would happily return for a holiday visit. Everything was extremely clean, comfortable and well thought out with some wonderful little extra touches. I wish all British guest houses paid as much attention to the comfort of their guests!

Amanda Osborne from stafford (Mature couple) on 26/05/2009

Rathlin Country House is very comfortable, quiet and relaxing. We also felt it was excellent value for the standard of accommodation, breakfast and facilities provided, so next time we are in Wales we will definitely be coming back - hopefully!
Alison Pearson from Scottish Borders (Mature couple) on 26/05/2009

Excellent accommodation in lovely surroundings. A marvellous breakfast that will keep you going all day and very friendly hosts adds up to a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Not cheap but good value for money - spoil yourself!
Stephen Kent from Essex (Mature couple) on 14/05/2009

I thoroughly recommend Rathlin Country House hotel for any kind of stay in and around Colwyn Bay. The rooms are very well appointed, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Marion and Anthony are excellent hosts who will give help if you need it and will keep out of the way if you don't. Breakfast is excellent (always a good sign I find) with fresh ingredients and home cooking. Try it for yourself.
Anonymous from Hertfordshire (Solo business traveller) on 13/05/2009

i would just like to say the room at rathlin was excellent. spacious with everything you need, plus comfortable beds, and the breakfast you could not fault. if i'm ever down there again i would not hesitate to stay there. (first class)
melvyn cain from bolton (Mature couple) on 13/05/2009

In the B&B desert that is the North Wales coast Rathlin stands out as an oasis of quality. I've stayed 6 or 7 times now and it's never been less than very good. The rooms are comfortable and well equiped with very good shower/bath facilities (in marked contrast to the vast majority of B&Bs in this country where they are lamentable), the breakfast is excellent and Marian and Anthony always provide a very warm welcome. Yes it's more expensive than other places but it's worth paying the extra. My only quibble is the cancellation policy which requires 7 days notice as opposed to the 1 or 2 that most places ask for - but this is a relatively minor concern.
Iain Kitt from Newcastle upon Tyne (Solo leisure traveller) on 05/05/2009

A perfect base for my work with The Open University in North Wales. My room was, as always, very clean and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. The atmosphere was, as ever, warm and welcoming. I should add that access to the web is a distinct advantage - crucial in my work - and unlike in so many places these days, totally free of charge! Rathlin House is absolutely top class in every respect. Many thanks and I hope to see you again soon.
Dr. Robert F. Drake from Swansea (Solo business traveller) on 01/05/2009

I visited Rathlin Country House for a business meeting. The service I received was excellent and would not hesitate in recommending it to others.
Jenny Hill from Derby (Solo business traveller) on 30/04/2009

Our Stay at Rathlin was fabulous, we stayed in the uk for a fortnight, staying at various places and none come close to the friendly welcome and stay we had with Marian and Anthony.
Nigel, Sue & Holly Taylor from Isle of Man (Family with young children) on 28/04/2009

We enjoyed our stay at your cosy Hotel very much. Besides a warm welcome we felt really heartily hosted. And we still enthuse about our really complete breakfast that we had the opportunity to take in your nice and comfortable breakfast room. Whenever our way might lead us to Colwyn Bay or in the near surroundings we surely will look for an opportunity to "recreate" at your place again! Thank you so much! Bernd, Susanne and Viktoria
Susanne Schaeff from Potsdam () on 27/04/2009

This was our second visit and it will not be our last. This is the best B and B we have stayed in. Rooms to a high standard with lots of nice little touches. Excellent breakfast and the owners are very helpful. Highly recommended.
Alan and Linda Medlock from Rotherham (Mature couple) on 22/04/2009

The perfect place to stay when working in North Wales. Both Marian and Anthony were very accommodating with my unusual working hours!
Chris Birch from London (Solo business traveller) on 22/04/2009

I would highly recommend staying athis hotel!! I was visiting the area on business and decided to stay at the Rathlin Country House which I selected from a list of hotels suggested in an internet search. What a great decision that turned out to be!! Really comfortable, clean hotel with a quiet location and great breakfast provided to finish my stay with. The owners were very friendly and helpful and I would strongly recommend this hotel to any type of traveller, whether it is on business or visiting the area on holiday
Phil Turnbull from Washington Tyne and Wear (Solo business traveller) on 17/04/2009

We can highly recommend Raithlin Country House. The rooms are very comfortable and cosy; the breakfast is perfect (varied, with high quality products), and the owners, Marian and Anthony, are very nice and extremely helpful; what more could you wish for! We should love to return the next time we're in North Wales and we look forward to seeing them again.
BOIRARD Michel and Pamela from France (Family with young children) on 15/04/2009

Very friendly staff and the room was great. Only problem which sounds trivial is the lack of biscuits. A lovely hotel overall. RESPONSE: Thanks for your comments Mr. Knopwood - We normally provide 2 packs of delicious Bronte Biscuits, so apologies if we forgot to replenish on this occasion. Marian and Anthony.
RICHARD KNOPWOOD from Oakham (Solo business traveller) on 12/04/2009

My parents chose this B&B based on its close proximity to their own house when we went to visit them recently in Colwyn Bay. Having spend a night here I can safely say that location is not the only reason we would return. The room was immaculately presented and incredibly spacious, our hosts were pleasant and helpful, while the breakfast was extremely high in both quality and quantity! Save some space if you want to fully enjoy your fry up! Thanks for a lovely stay; if only we could have stayed longer. Hope to see you again soon!
Michael and Jennie from Dorridge, West Midlands (Young couple) on 11/04/2009

What a little gem! we stayed for one night in room 1, the room overlooked the front garden and was a good size, the bathroom was very large and those little extras like bathrobes, bath foam etc supplied. The breakfast was lovely, very healthy with home made bread, we were even given a home made muffin to take away with us! Hosts very attentive. Will definitely go again if we are in the area - try it you will love it!
Anonymous from Leek, Staffordshire (Mature couple) on 28/03/2009

It was again a marvellous time in your familiar and well organized house. We enjoyed it again to stay there especially as we had to stay 3 months ago in an other place, which was not very nice. Thank you very much. We look forward staying the next time again in your house.
Dr. Barbara Bremer from Germany (Family with young children) on 23/03/2009

Great one night stop at a lovely Mansion House with wood panneling and a lovely homely feel. Nice touches like fresh milk in the room fridge just make the difference along with home baked bread at breakfast. Free wifi also very useful. Room 3 a touch smaller than we would have liked but stil very comfortable . Definitely return again when next in that area.

We went away for my Fiance's birthday and it was so relaxing at Rathlin Country house. We were in the room with Jacuzzi bath which was out of this world. The owners are so friendly and helpful. The gave us a list of restaurants which they recommend. The breakfast was delcious. I can't wait to stay again and I'm even considering having our wedding night there next year.
Melissa Jones from Chester (Young couple) on 18/03/2009

Made being away for the week much more pleasant than usual - wifi internet connection, lots of nice touches - particularly liked luxurious bath robe and fridge in the room - and great breakfasts too - what more could you want?!
Tamsin Stirling from Cardiff (Solo business traveller) on 18/03/2009

Exceptional standard of accommodation: flying visit, but enjoyed it and will be back. Steam shower nice touch. Constructive comment: whilst enjoyed the full english, for longer stay would have to have something more healthy but preferably cooked. How about adding eg smoked haddock/poached eggs? Have stayed at the Castle in Conwy quite a few times, mainly because a) breakfast is served early and b)the above is available. Think more people are becoming increasingly health concious. All the best.

We are a family with grown-up children and we all enjoyed our stay very much. We appreciated the warm welcome we received, the clean modern bathrooms with plenty of hot water, general comfort and cleanliness, and the particularly good breakfast, especially the home-baked bread; we very much look forward to staying in the summmer when we might take advantage of the swimming pool facilities. Thank you for a very relaxing and comfortable stay.

Beautiful accomodation - Room and food were excellent. Recommended.
Michelle Rogers from Cardiff (Solo business traveller) on 11/03/2009

Fantastic! Comfortable, luxury bathrooms and all the little things you either forget or make it feel like home. Very impressive indeed - and I haven't had a cooked breakfast of such high standard in a very very long time! I will return. Diolch.

An excellent bed and breakfast in all respects. A very comfortable, well equipped bedroom, excellent breakfast and a friendly, attentive host. The atmosphere is homely but without the feeling you are intruding into someone's house. I would certainly have no hesitation in staying here again.
Anthony Whyman from Cardiff (Solo business traveller) on 26/02/2009

It is a lovely place to stay. The room was well decorate and clean. The breakfast was really good and it was nice and friendly to have the opportunity to discuss with Marian and Anthony. I recommend that place to anyone who wants to discover the north Wales. Thank you

This is an excellent B and B in a quiet location at the edge of Colwyn Bay (but with easy access to the town). The room was spacious and comfortable and the jacuzzi was a real treat after a tedious journey. An important B and B feature is reliable recommendation about local restaurants. Again, the Rathlin did well - the good Chinese restaurant only 5 minutes away lived up to its billing on both counts (and I'm very fussy about Chinese food). The Rathlin breakfast was very good, with a wide choice of options (I recommend the kippers). Overall, The Rathlin is really good value for money and the owners are friendly, pleasant and efficient.

We were on our way to Holyhead and decided to find a last minute B&B-what a find it was!! The room was lovely-better than a lot of 4* hotels, the location was quaint and Anthony gave us a warm welcome. We only hope if we stay again that we are there for the breakfast and don't have to leave so early!!
Mrs D Rowland from Hertfordshire (Young couple) on 16/02/2009

This country house was an excellent retreat for the weekend. The room was spotless and had everything you need. The hosts were every welcoming and friendly, and I'm sure the breakfast would have been lovely, if I could have gotten out of the comfortable bed in time.

A beautiful room, beautifully appointed. My gold standard is a teapot in the room - no problems here!
Tony Bell from Taunton (Solo business traveller) on 05/11/2008

What a find. This is the cleanest and best looked after hotel I have ever stayed in. Excellent food. The steam room was great, just the thing for the end of a hard day. Handy for the office. I will return. However the full english will not do my waistline any good!
Nick P from Anonymous (Solo business traveller) on 23/10/2008

Website and brochure actually match reality - hosts could not be faulted and very knowledgeable and approachable. If we have to stay in that area again it would be the first place we would contact for a vacancy.

Set in a quiet street, plenty of off-road parking, keys given to come and go as you please. Breakfast cooked as you order it. Small details, like shower mat, fresh coffee, milk, wine glasses and bottle opener all provided. DVD player in room with access to DVD library in breakfast room.

We love the North Wales coast and Snowdonia and having discovered Rathlin Country House means that holidays there are now even more enjoyable. Staying there really is a pleasure with absolutely no shortcomings. The things we love are the cleanliness, the quality of the rooms/fittings, the breakfast feasts, the easy parking, the location and the perfect approach of the proprietors. We strongly recommend and assure you that you'll be delighted.

We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect our stay. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and very comfortable - en suite sumptuous! The breakfasts catered for a wide range of tastes and were cooked to a high standard. Proprietors were most welcoming and engaged in lively conversation. We shall return!

It is a lovely country house. I felt like a guest in someone's country house, rather than a visitor in a chain hotel! Decor is lovely. I liked the jacuzzi in the bedroom. There was also a TV and it was possible to borrow DVDs. The breakfast was excellent.

We are unable to fault this hotel at all, the welcome was warm and inviting, the room and bathroom were beautiful and extremely clean, and the breakfast was fabulous!!! All relivant information was available to us prior to booking, and the ability to connect to the internet made it possible for us to work too! Would like to stay again and try the other two rooms, maybe in the summer so we could use the pool! Loved how close it was to all amenities but private enough to remain peaceful.

I have booked in at the Rathlin Country House many times and I have NEVER been disappointed!! The Rathlin stands in its own grounds and is in a very quiet area of Colwyn Bay yet only 2 minutes from the town centre. The accommodation is truly 5 star and the breakfast is the best there is! Anthony and Marian who run this delightful Bed and Breakfast are very friendly and welcoming and can't do enough for you! A hidden gem! Highly recommended!
Paul M from Bolton () on 27/07/2007

The Rathlin Country House is a fantastic accommodation. The room with the jacuzzi is fantastic and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very good so we didn't get to go in the pool! All round friendly, clean and comfortable place to stay. Would definitely recommend and would stay again. Fantastic!!

The standard of the accommodation - everything possible is thought of and nothing left to chance. It is well maintained and convenient for visiting the area. Also, Marian booked a meal at a local restaurant for us for the night of arrival - those extra's mean a lot!

This is a lovely hotel: there are only three rooms but this provides an informal atmosphere that is welcoming and friendly. The room was clean and well provided for and the morning breakfast was excellent with a good choice. The hosts were friendly yet unobtrusive with helpful advice on the area and excellent local places to eat. We would definitely recommend the hotel and would stay there again.

Thank you for another lovely stay at Rathlin. We were impressed as always to the attention to detail you paid to all aspects of your accommodation. Somehow, I couldn’t bear to leave you last Sunday , so I took the room key home with me! My apologies for this oversight. Thank you once again and see you soon.
