Our latest review This was by far the best b&b i have stayed in, definitely worth the five stars given. Marion and Anthony are a very warm, friendly and welcoming couple. We had a fabulous weekend and hope to stay there again. Our latest review

Our latest review Very much enjoyed our stay at Rathlin House from the welcome on arrival to the checking out. We had only booked one night but would have stayed longer if available. Such a clean, comfortable room and en suite bathroom with everything you need supplied. Pleased with cake and fresh coffee, breakfast was a treat with delicious home-made bread, marmalade and jams, and the best cooked breakfast! Lots of details provided about local area, pubs and restaurants, within short walk of promenade. Would definitely stay again or recommend to others. Our latest review

Our latest review We had a very enjoyable couple of nights, while we visited Llandudno and Conwy. The room was so comfortable and pleasant that we decided just to stay in one of the evenings, rather than go anywhere else. The warm welcome and attention to detail made the stay extra special. Thanks particularly for the care taken in looking after our vegetarian and vegan requirements. Our latest review

Our latest review My partner treated me for my birthday and we stayed for two nights from 25 - 26 January 2013. What a gorgoeus B&B! Very warm welcome, lovely room with hydro/chromatherapy bath. And complimenatry bara brith and fresh coffee! Beautifully immaculate and cosy room with very comfy bed. Did not want to get up in the morning but had to for the delicious vege breakfast, made to order. With freshly baked croissants, freshly baked bread, home made jam and scrambled eggs from their own hens. Beautiful surroundings, we went to the Welsh Mountain Zoo which is just up the road and had a great time meeting the tiger, meerkats and sea lions to name but a few. A fabulous birthday weekend treat in a beautiful B&B. Thanks to Marion and her husband for your warm hospitalityOur latest review

Our latest review The gold award has indeed found its true home at Rathlin House, still my favourite stopover anywhere in the world with which I hope to be reacquainted later in the year. Love your newsletter and website. Our latest review

Our latest review Without a shadow of a doubt, Raithlin Country House is the best B&B we have ever stayed in! From a lovely warm welcome, gorgeous room to the little touches to enhance our stay (bara bryth, fresh milk in the fridge, gorgeous toiletries, fluffy bathrobes and complimentary fizzy water- perfect. We stayed in Room 1 with the amazing chromatherapy whirlpool bath (too big to fit in the boot of our car! Coloured bubble bliss! Excellent homecooked breakfast and the best vegetarian one my husband has eaten. Scrumptious homebaked bread, tasty homemade jam and marmalade and eggs fresh from the hens! Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Thoroughly recommend RCH and we intend going back (with a bigger boot for the bath!). Many, many thanks for making our anniversary weekend perfect. Our latest review

Breakfast is phenomenal, cooked freshly to order. The owners, Anthony and Marian, are very welcoming, as one would expect from a person whose surname has very definite Manx connections! Our latest review We have just come back from a 4 night stay at Rathlin Country House. What a fantastic break and full of surprises too! It was my 40th birthday during our stay and my partner proposed to me at the summit of mount Snowdon. Unbeknown to me the owners of Rathlin Guest House (Anthony and Marian) were fully aware of 'the proposal' and had arranged flowers, champagne and strawberries on our return. We would fully recommend staying at Rathlin, Anthony and Marian made us feel really welcome and served a fantastic breakfast every morning, offering a range of home made foods. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the chromatherapy whirlpool bath is just bliss. We'd just like to thank Anthony and Marian again for helping make our stay a really memorable experience. We'll be back, next time though with an extra guest. ;-) Our latest review

David Bowden from East Yorkshire (Mature couple) on 10/09/2012

Our latest review We stayed for just 1 night and left wishing it was a whole week. We stayed in room 1 which is very roomy. We had 2 travel cots with us and still plenty of room to walk about. The extra little details were so thoughtful like the fresh milk in the fridge, wine glasses & even bath robes. Things you don't normally get when you stay in a b&b. The bathroom was a great size with having 2 small children. The babies absolutely loved the lights in the bath too. Our breakfast was beautifully cooked, down to the home made bread. There was plenty to choose from along with fresh fruit which our daughter couldn't get enough of. All in all, this was the best b&b we've stayed in, we will definitely be back next year, for a long weekend this time. The hospitality and the overall feel are why this is a 5 star. Thank you for a lovely stay. Our latest review

Our latest review I have had cause to travel to the North Wales coast a lot recently and will continue to do so. Rathlin has quickly become my base up here when working with it's superb central location relative to the rest of North Wales. Every time I stay here I am very well looked after, the owners are extremely attentive without being intrusive. Little things like Wi-Fi make this ideal for business. The comfort and facilities are such that bringing my wife up here to stay very soon is on the "To-Do" list. Superb Hotel representing fantastic value for money. Our latest review

Our latest review We stayed here as a joint break for our wedding anniversary and also my husbands birthday. The room was spotless and luxurious; I especially loved the bathroom with the under floor heating and whirlpool bath! Location was good and really handy for the Welsh Mountain Zoo which we visited on the Saturday. Even though Colwyn Bay is a quiet town, Llandudno and Conwy are easily accessible from here. Thanks to the owners for a lovely break and for making us feel so welcome. Our latest review

Our latest review We stayed at Rathlin at the end of March for 2 nights. It certainly is one of the most comfortable b&b's we have stayed in ! The heated floor in the bathroom was an absolute delight, the bed was extremely cosy and comfortable and the fresh milk and "proper" coffee in the fridge was an unexpected bonus. Attention to detail was excellent. I would like to think we would be visiting again !Our latest review

Our latest review We were at Rathlin Country House this Easter break for 4 nights. It is the best B & B we have ever stayed at for comfort, luxury items in the bedrooms (room 2) and breakfast choices. The welcome we had was sincere and once settled in we wanted for nothing. we will be back for sure as we did not see everything in Snowdonia. April 2012 Our latest review

Our latest review We have just returned from a fantastic stay at Rathlin House. From the moment you pull in to the drive you fall in love with the place. The inside certainly doesn't disappoint either. The room was fantastic had everything you could possibly need with the lovely extra touches of water, fresh milk and a DVD player. I also have to mention the whirlpool bath which I wish I could have sneaked in to my bag and bought home. The breakfasts were also of a high standard and could not be faulted. If you want a luxurious, warm relaxing stay Rathlin Country House is definitely a must! Our latest review

Our latest review We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night's stay at Rathlin Country House and we have recommended it to friends and family. We were made very welcome and everything we needed was provided. Very large room and enormous bathroom in room 1, with luxury toiletries. The attention to detail was very noticeable, from fresh milk in the room fridge, variety of tea, coffee and hot chocolate and delicious biscuits. They even provided a DVD player in the room with a selection of DVDs in the dining room for our use. Everywhere was very clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were wonderful. A large range of cereals, fruits, yogurts plus a choice of cooked breakfast made to order and homemade bread and preserves. Yum! We would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone who wants to stay in the area. I would love to see it festooned with Christmas decorations. Our latest review

Our latest review We just completed a lovely holiday in Great Britain. We live in Christchurch, New Zealand so it was a break from the earthquakes we have been having. Colwyn Bay was a sentimental visit for me as my Mum grew up there. Rathlin House was a great place to stay. We were welcomed and well taken care of. The building itself is gorgeous, as we took our daughter we stayed in room 1 with a spare bed for her. We were all happy and comfortable. Would highly recommend Rathlin House. Our latest review

Our latest review Even though we only stopped for one night, we were made very welcome as soon as we arrived. It is by far the best accommodation we have stayed in. The family sized room had very comfortable beds, a huge en suite with whirlpool bath and had excellent furnishings throughout. There was a great choice of complementary drinks and biscuits and fresh milk in the fridge. The children were given a drink and sweets which was a nice touch which they appreciated. After an excellent nights sleep, the breakfast was fantastic. We had a good choice of food . The home made bread and jam was great. We were also offered the use of any of their DVDs or games in the dining room. Would definitely stay again and would recommend it to anyone. Our latest review

We have travelled to many locations around the world and this is by far one of the most outstanding B&B-style establishments we have ever stayed at. Once shown to our room, we appreciated the little touches, such as - fruit drinks and a little treat for each of the children, fridge in room, corkscrew, mineral water, flat screen tv, dvd player and a selection of dvd's. Our latest review Well, what a lovely surprise, a real gem of a B and B. We were real made welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay in Room 1. The place is very clean and comfortable. We were made really welcome on arrival and was glad to have found the Rathlin on the web; anyone wishing a relaxing few days in North Wales with first class service and a hearty breakfast, then the Rathlin would be an excellent choice. One word to described the place: Outstanding. Our latest review

Our latest review We had an amazing weekend break in Colwyn Bay and half of that was down to the glorious weather we luckily had, and the other half was down to staying in the wonderful Rathlin Country House. It certainly has the best bath in room 1 that I've ever bathed in. The only down side is I now have to bath the kids with a coloured torch and the air pump from our dingy to try and recreate the whirlpool affect! Definitely be back very very soon!!! Our latest review As ever, a most enjoyable stay. I work for the Open University and so three things are crucial: access to the web, a quiet room, lots of coffee. In addition to these (for me) essentials Rathlin provides very comfortable, clean, airy and warm rooms of the highest quality, utterly superb food, a friendly but unobtrusive atmosphere, an excellent location and terrific value for money. Who could want more? Our latest review

Our latest review We have just returned from a lovely 3 day break at Rathlin this was our second stay here and as ever we were far from dissapointed Marian and Anthony were once again very welcoming and made our stay there just as pleasant as the last time the breakfast was outstanding as was the cleaniness of the room! We stayed once again in room 2 which we would highly reccomend and we hope too return again soon Thanks for a lovely stay Our latest review

Our latest review We made our booking through a fresh weekends voucher which we received as a gift. Rathlin House is the best B & B we have ever stayed in. The whole place is spotlessly clean. The room is well equipped with absolutely everything, shower gel, coffee making facilities, bath robes, flannels, fridge, hairdryer, air freshener! The choice at breakfast was excellent with everything freshly prepared. Highly recommended. Thank you marian and anthony for a lovely stay. Our latest review

Our latest review Rathlin Country House does exactly what it says on the tin - a comfortable, welcoming, high-quality B&B. We were made to feel most welcome and wanted for nothing during our brief stay. Our only slight problem (not the owners' fault but worth knowing) was that mobile phone coverage for our service (Orange)was poor from our room - we had to go outside to make or receive 'phone calls. Also worth mentioning is the excellent "China Club" restaurant within 5 mins walk. All in all a fine experience and one we would happily repeat if we're ever in the area again. Our latest review

Our latest review Our second stay at Rathlin, this time our son David joined us in the Family room. Wonderful hospitality & plenty of DVDs in the library to occupy our son when the weather was wet. Good advice from Marion on things to do & sites to see with the 'little-one' in tow. The new bathroom suite in our room was very luxurious, no doubt we will be back soon :-) Our latest review

Our latest review This is a truly lovely place to stay and perfect for business travellers. I only wish I had been on holiday and able to stay a few more days. The rooms were clean, spacious and very comfortable. I was very impressed by the facilities provided and the little extra touches (bathrobes, decent toiletries and a wealth of biscuits and hot drinks). The service was friendly both upon arrival and at breakfast. Breakfast was delicious and there was a wide variety of items to choose from - the homemade marmalade was a particular treat! Overall I was very pleased with the Rathlin and wouldn't hesitate to book again. Our latest review

Our latest review We stayed at Rathlin Country House for New Years Eve and the following night as we wanted a quiet break away from the house parties and madness! We had a wonderful stay - room 2 is gorgeous and we couldn't find any faults, everything is spotlessly clean and finished to a very high standard. The whirlpool bath, mineral water and small fridge are lovely touches. The service is friendly and helpful, the breakfast is divine and the house is just beautiful. We will definitely be returning in the near future, this place is a gem! Thank you for a brilliant stay. Our latest review

Our latest review We stayed at Rathlin Country House at the start of this month and cannot fault our stay. We were warmly greeted on arrival by Marian, who proudly showed us where everthing was, and to our room, room 3 a double room with en-suite shower/steam room. Marian was very informative about the local area and recommended the Toad, overlooking the bay, as a good place to eat, great choice. In the morning we could not believe the selection of fresh fruit, cereals, fresh home baked bread, home made conserves and a full cooked breakfast, really set us up for the day. Anthony and Marian were the perfect hosts, they take great pride in everything that they do and it really shows in their home, Rathlin Country House. Our latest review

Our latest review Arrived at the Rathlin and were made to feel at home. We stayed for two nights (regretably should have been more) to visit North Wales which we have known for many years. The room was more than adequate with a very large en-suite. In the morning, a full breakfast is an excellent way to start the day. My wife was particularly impressed with the Damson jam! Our latest review My boyfriend and myself booked Rathlin country house for a weekend away over valentines back in February. It is a small b&b with a lovely welcoming and homely feeling, you have your own key to get in and out during the day and night so you can really do your own thing. The rooms are just lovely with comfy beds and little extras that really make you feel at home. We chose the room with the jacuzzi bath and found it to be absolutely lovely, perfect to relax in after a busy day in the welsh countryside! for the areas we wished to visit on our stay, conwy, llandudno, and other areas, the b&b was in a very desirable situation just a short journey to the surrounding towns and attractions. the breakfast each morning was the best we have ever had, very high standard for such a small place, and it is served with a smile every single time, the owners are very friendly and very accommodating to your needs, with information on local attractions and restaurants provided. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be revisiting soon. Our latest review

Our latest review I would have no heitation in reccommending Rathlin County House to my family, friends and work colleagues. Marian and Anthony could not be more welcoming and friendly. The room we stayed in was spotlessly clean, as was the en-suite bathroom. The in-room fridge came in very handy. The breakfast choices, would I think cater for every taste. The small touches make this bed and breakfst hotel stand out from others we have stayed in. I do not want to sing the praises of this lovely house and couple too much as I would like to return and am very fearful that after reading this review, it may be diffecult in the future for me to be able to book a room. Our latest review Often, one reads on a review site, that an establishment is "in a great location", "wonderful staff","beautiful house", etc etc & then, full of anticipation, you arrive & think you must have got the wrong address. This does NOT apply to 'Rathlin'. Everything is just right. The house, the owners (who actually treat you as guests!),the rooms & so on, all have that little bit extra which can really make the stay. With-out question, we award them 10 out of 10.Our latest review

Our latest review I would highly recommend the Rathlin Country House. My job involves staying in North Wales every few months. Over the last 2 years i have experienced the majority of Hotels in North Wales and found the Rathlin Country House to be the best by far. This is due to exceptioanl customer service, cleanliness and most importantly the Breakfast! Really appreciated the small touches, such as the DVD player with a selection of films and a fridge with complimentary chilled water. Will definitely stay again. Our latest review

Our latest review We felt welcomed from the day we arrived. The accommodation was excellent as was the breakfast and the local knowledge and help was priceless. We enjoyed not only conversation with our hosts but also the passing parade of other guests with touring tips and entertaining stories. We left rested and with some regret that there had not been enough time to see everything North Wales had to offer. Our latest review

Our latest review We would highly recommend the Rathlin Country House. The house is lovely. All bedrooms/bathrooms are furnished to a high standard, very clean, and everything had been thought of - little things like fresh milk and bottled water in the fridge were appreciated. Breakfast was all that you could ask for both in choice and quality. Hosts very welcoming and helpful. Our latest review

Our latest review An excellent family run hotel with a friendly approach and good service. My room was beautifully furnished to a high standard, extremely comfortable and very pleasant to relax in after a long journey. The bathroom was also very well thought out with a high level of thought and attention to detail having gone into it. Overall a great place to stay, with good food and five star accomodation at three star prices. Thoroughly recommended! Our latest review

Our latest review Unfortunately we only had one nights stay at the Rathlin Country House, which proved to be most enjoyable. From arrival which was very welcoming to our room which was beautiful. The dining room was very tasteful and the food lovely being all freshly cooked with many choices. The whole ambience of the building is excellent. I would have no problem in recommending the 'Rathlin' for a pleasurable stay. Our latest review
Pauline Jones from Appleton Park, Cheshire (Mature couple) on 05/08/2009

Our latest review I found the Rathlin to be extremely comfortable with great amenities. Our room had a Jacuzzi which is not the norm for a B & B. Bathrobes supplied as well. Instead of the usual portable you find in most B & B accomodation our room had a large flat screen tv and DVD player. DVD's available to borrow from the dining room. We also had a fridge and internet access. I found the owners very welcoming and helpful and they do a fantastic breakfast with locally made sausages. One of the best if not the best B & B's I have stayed in. My niece also felt the same way about the Rathlin Country House. Luxury accomodation indeed. Our latest review

Our latest review The welcome was very friendly and courteous. We were promptly shown to our beautiful room. The room facilities were excellent even down to the dressing gowns. The dining room decor and table decoration was lovely. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented lovely which I am sure catered for every taste. A beautiful house and gardens even with the squirrel climbing the bird table and then sliding down from top to bottom. We were only there for one night but would love to return if we were in the area again. A wonderful experinceOur latest review

Our latest review My family had an excellent stay at Rathlin House-the rooms are furnished to a high standard and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit available as well as the usual bacon/eggs, etc. all very tasty and well presented. The owners undercharged us and I managed to break the shower fitting to add insult to injury - the proprietor cheerfully waived my offer of compensation- gracious and generous hosts, I would recommend it to anyone. Our latest review Great place to stay on your own - I haven't found anything as nice in Colwyn Bay - excellent quality, and so clean! Room was great, enought space to work, with a desk as well and the free WIFI was a bonus. Little touches like the free water, fresh milk and having the fridge made such a difference. Breakfast was fab, although a bit odd with 3 single guests each having their own table - we are so British aren't we? Will definitely book again - very friendly welcome - every b&b should aspire to such standards! Our latest review

Our latest review Rathlin Country House is the best B&B we have ever stayed in. On arrival we were welcomed by our hosts Marian and Anthony with a warmth that you would only expect from family members. The house is beautiful in a lovely setting, our room was fantastic, well appointed with lots of little extras, and immaculately clean. The breakfast was food fit for a king, piping hot, cooked to order and plenty of it. The dinning room is cosy, quiet and elegant, and quite frankly, we did not want to leave. If you want a real treat in the area of Colwyn Bay, stay at the Rathlin, its the best of the best. Thank you so much for making our stay just perfect. Our latest review

Our latest review My family and I highly enjoyed our visit to the Rathlin Country House, and highly recommend it to our friends. Marian was an excellent hostess who provided great service and was very friendly and helpful. She recommended activities to do in North Wales, as well as places to eat (based in part on positive reviews from previous guests). The house and rooms were very nicely adorned and the family unit was quite spacious. The location in Colwyn Bay is an excellent base station for exploring the beauty of North Wales, with Conwy minutes away and a 30-40 minute drive over to Caernarfon and Llanberis being the long-end of the journey around the area. Also, the breakfast was delicious and was one of the highlights of the stay. The menu was fairly broad, but I recommend doing the full English-style breakfast, as it was a great way to start your adventure each day. North Wales is beautiful and well worth the visit. If you are considering a holiday there, I can recommend from an excellent personal experience that you make the Rathlin Country House your home if you do.Our latest review

Our latest review We thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay at Rathlin Country House which is situated in a quiet part of Colwyn Bay. Marian and Anthony provide an excellent standard of accommmodation for their guests and are very welcoming hosts. Breakfasts are delicious. As we were on our first visit to Wales we had no difficulty filling our days and sadly time did not allow us to make use of the swimming pool facilities despite the beautiful weather. We would certainly recommend this B & B to anyone visiting the area. Our latest review

Our latest review The best B&B we have ever stayed at. It was easy to find from the website's directions and a car parking space for each bedroom. Marian and Anthony were very friendly and soon made us feel at home. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and very clean. The mini fridge was a great boon in the warm weather and the complimentary mineral water was very welcome on a sunny day. There were a wide selection of items for breakfas; cooked foods freshly prepared and piping hot. We had a wonderful 4 day stay and the accommodation made our stay very enjoyable. We hope to visit Rathlin House again soon. Our latest review

Our latest review In the B&B desert that is the North Wales coast Rathlin stands out as an oasis of quality. I've stayed 6 or 7 times now and it's never been less than very good. The rooms are comfortable and well equiped with very good shower/bath facilities (in marked contrast to the vast majority of B&Bs in this country where they are lamentable), the breakfast is excellent and Marian and Anthony always provide a very warm welcome. Yes it's more expensive than other places but it's worth paying the extra. My only quibble is the cancellation policy which requires 7 days notice as opposed to the 1 or 2 that most places ask for - but this is a relatively minor concern. Our latest review

Our latest review A perfect base for my work with The Open University in North Wales. My room was, as always, very clean and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. The atmosphere was, as ever, warm and welcoming. I should add that access to the web is a distinct advantage - crucial in my work - and unlike in so many places these days, totally free of charge! Rathlin House is absolutely top class in every respect. Many thanks and I hope to see you again soon. Our latest review

Our latest review My parents chose this B&B based on its close proximity to their own house when we went to visit them recently in Colwyn Bay. Having spend a night here I can safely say that location is not the only reason we would return. The room was immaculately presented and incredibly spacious, our hosts were pleasant and helpful, while the breakfast was extremely high in both quality and quantity! Our latest review Exceptional standard of accommodation: flying visit, but enjoyed it and will be back. Steam shower nice touch. Constructive comment: whilst enjoyed the full english, for longer stay would have to have something more healthy but preferably cooked. How about adding eg smoked haddock/poached eggs? Have stayed at the Castle in Conwy quite a few times, mainly because a) breakfast is served early and b)the above is available. Think more people are becoming increasingly health concious. All the best. Our latest review

Our latest review This is an excellent B and B in a quiet location at the edge of Colwyn Bay (but with easy access to the town). The room was spacious and comfortable and the jacuzzi was a real treat after a tedious journey. An important B and B feature is reliable recommendation about local restaurants. Again, the Rathlin did well - the good Chinese restaurant only 5 minutes away lived up to its billing on both counts (and I'm very fussy about Chinese food). The Rathlin breakfast was very good, with a wide choice of options (I recommend the kippers). Overall, The Rathlin is really good value for money and the owners are friendly, pleasant and efficient. Our latest review The standard of the accommodation - everything possible is thought of and nothing left to chance. It is well maintained and convenient for visiting the area. Also, Marian booked a meal at a local restaurant for us for the night of arrival - those extra's mean a lot!Our latest review

Our latest review This is a lovely hotel: there are only three rooms but this provides an informal atmosphere that is welcoming and friendly. The room was clean and well provided for and the morning breakfast was excellent with a good choice. The hosts were friendly yet unobtrusive with helpful advice on the area and excellent local places to eat. We would definitely recommend the hotel and would stay there again. Our latest review

Our latest review Thank you for another lovely stay at Rathlin. We were impressed as always to the attention to detail you paid to all aspects of your accommodation. Somehow, I couldn’t bear to leave you last Sunday , so I took the room key home with me! My apologies for this oversight. Thank you once again and see you soon. Our latest review
